Richard P. Fleitas, Psy.D.

Dr. Richard Fleitas is a Cuban-American licensed clinical and forensic psychologist in the District of Columbia and Virginia with more than two decades of experience providing psychological assessment, consultation, and psychotherapy to adults and professionals across a wide range of clinical and organizational settings.

​

Over the course of his career, Dr. Fleitas has worked in military medical systems, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, university counseling centers, community mental health clinics, and private practice. His work includes treatment of mood and trauma-related conditions, psychological assessment, and evaluations that inform educational, occupational, disability, and administrative decision-making.

​

In 2006, Dr. Fleitas founded Psychological Assessment Solutions (PAS), a Washington, DC–based organization where his team provides psychological assessment and behavioral health services to public, private, and charter schools as well as families throughout the metropolitan region. Through PAS, he collaborates closely with educators, physicians, attorneys, and multidisciplinary care teams addressing complex clinical, learning, and behavioral health needs.

In 2009, Dr. Fleitas co-founded an international mental health consultation organization providing psychological services and program support to U.S. government–affiliated communities overseas. Through this work, he gained extensive experience consulting with Department of State personnel and families and working across multiple international and embassy-supported environments.

​

Dr. Fleitas is also the founder of Pivotal Psych Consultants, where he and his team provide behavioral health and assessment consultation to healthcare organizations, government partners, and institutions operating at the intersection of psychology, operational decision-making, and emerging technology. This work complements his clinical practice by extending psychological expertise into complex organizational and high-stakes environments.

In addition to organizational consulting, Dr. Fleitas has contributed psychological expertise within military and federal contracting environments and has conducted extensive disability and forensic evaluations. These experiences inform his practical and grounded approach when working with individuals managing demanding professional and personal responsibilities.

In his Alexandria-based private practice serving the greater Washington, DC area, Dr. Fleitas provides psychotherapy with adults, many of whom are professionals, executives, and graduate students seeking improved balance, resilience, and sustained performance amid demanding careers.

Dr. Fleitas earned his Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication from Fairfield University, a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Boston College, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology following completion of an APA-accredited internship at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, DC.
