Richard P. Fleitas, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the District of Columbia and Virginia. I have a wealth of experience as a therapist and consultant working with a variety of populations and clinical issues. I have provided services in a military setting, an inpatient hospital, a college counseling center, and in a number of community mental health care clinics. Additionally, I have helped start a number of organizations supporting mental health serving clients in both the Greater Washington, DC area and internationally.
In 2009 I cofounded an international consultation company for mental health and special needs. In the course of this work, I became very involved in consultation and therapy over the internet with video-conferencing. This is one growing area where I continue to focus my efforts on determining the most secure and effective means of delivering telemental health.
I received a BA in Organizational Communication from Fairfield University in Connecticut. I later earned a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Boston College and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology, DC Campus after completing an APA accredited internship at St. Elizabeths Hospital.
In 2006 in an effort to improve the quality of mental health services received by district students, I became a founder of a DC based company, Psychological Assessment Solutions (PAS). Now working with public, private, charter schools, and individual families, PAS clinicians provide a wide range of services and are available for assessments and intervention.
The diversity in my professional roles enhances my ability to bring unique insights into the work with clients in my private practice. Many of the clients I see are professionals and college and graduate students struggling to find balance amidst the hectic demands of their own various responsibilities. In my Old Town Alexandria, DC, and telemental health practice I provide psychotherapy with adolescents and adults.
